Who We Are

About Us

A specialized team at the intersection of energy systems engineering and data science.

Dr. Dimitris I. Chatzigiannis

Dr. Dimitris I. Chatzigiannis

Founder & Lead Scientist

With a background in energy systems engineering, optimization and data science, I founded Abacus Analytics to bridge the gap between academic research and practical market operations in the energy sector.

My work focuses on developing transparent, open-source mathematical models that help stakeholders make better-informed decisions about energy production, storage, and distribution.

I hold a Dipl. Ing. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and currently hold positions as Head of Applied Research and Development at HERON Energy S.A., Strategy and Technology consultant at Optimus Energy S.A. and Research Associate at the National Technical University of Athens. My research has been published in leading journals covering power systems optimization, market design, and renewable energy integration.

I am a firm believer that open-source tools and reproducible research are essential for the energy transition.
